My ancestral village Benali is approximately 300 years old. It's named after the Hindu King Banamali. The traces of remains still exists in the form of old clay objects and stones of various colours and sizes. It is spread over an area of approximately 7 sq. miles. Topologically its bit wider in the eastern and western then its northern and southern parts. On the southern side it is connected by G.T. Road and on the northern side by a bypass road connecting Raniganj to Jamuria also popularly named as Akhalpur Road. This village is a perfect example of unity in diversity as it has as many as 15 different communities residing side by side.
During the British Raj, Gopinath Mandal a resident of Mejadhi village along with his family settled in this village. initially he was financially weak and somehow managed his family. Lack of financial sufficiency forced individuals of the family to work together as a result education took a back seat. His eldest son Maheshwar along with his brother brought a small store. They used to get their stuffs for selling from Raniganj. As business flourished they ventured into new areas and found liking for country liquor business. Form this business they soon touched the higher echons of the society. Soon they build a pucca house and brought acers of land and some ponds in the village. With acquired business acumen they ventured into Afgari shops in Ranchi, Dumka and even went to Orissa. It was Asutosh Mandal who set up the first country liquor shop in the village. With wealth ushering in they took to various activities aimed at providing service to the mankind. With the aim of protecting their acquired property they set up the Rakhal Mandal charity trust to look after the wellbeing of the now extended family members. A bit of ego issues led to the start of the Ramnavami Puja in the village. This puja is the main festivity of this village which was started way back in 1918 on 24th day of Bengali Chaitra month.
